David De Buck

David De Buck (born March 14, 1979 in Ghent, Belgium) is a gallerist and art dealer and owner of De Buck Gallery in New York City. The former Swiss banker moved to New York in 2008 to establish De Buck Gallery.
== Life and career ==
Due to his parents’ involvement in the contemporary art world, De Buck grew up personally knowing many top European artists, especially those belonging to the New Realist movement, including Christo, Niki de Saint Phalle, Arman and César. This early exposure definitely had a significant impact on De Buck, and contributed to his interest in contemporary art.
De Buck decided to study economics and business, following the example of his grandfather, the founder of Spector International Photo Group (ticker: SPEC). After his studies, he worked in banking in Switzerland in order to gain business experience before turning his attention to art full-time.
In 2008, he found his passion and dedication lay in the arts, and he moved to New York and founded De Buck Gallery. According to the website, "De Buck is a contemporary and modern art gallery committed to presenting compelling ideas from a coterie of international artists in the primary and secondary market. Located in the heart of Chelsea, and with an intimate viewing space in Antwerp, the exhibition program is a cohesive reflection of multidisciplinary practices spanning generations. The gallery works tirelessly to make a meaningful contribution to art historical dialogue, as evidenced by scholarly exhibitions and catalogues, ranging from mid-century masters like Turi Simeti, Alberto Biasi and Shozo Shimamoto to emerging talent like Kelly Reemtsen, Joseph Cohen and Simon Vega. Through our website we synthesize innovative, user-friendly and interactive technology with the traditional gallery experience – a move meant to champion transparency and progress, and to challenge existing paradigms."
